I would like to speak in favour of MMP or Mixed Member Proportional. I have read a book on electoral systems and I like the equitable and less confrontational nature inherit in the design of this system. [1 page]

I would like to speak in favour of MMP or Mixed Member Proportional. I have read a book on electoral systems and I like the equitable and less confrontational nature inherit in the design of this system.

I believe the MMP models in Germany and New Zealand are working favourably. Certainly, I think this system would make people feel better about their vote. Not only would it bring an end to strategic voting, but almost everyone would have a representative that they supported either directly or indirectly.

Also, preventing wild swings between political parties, which normally does not represent the true change in overall public sentiment, would put a lid on the wasteful nature of one political party reversing and cancelling all the initiatives and policies of the previous party in power.
